Painted Eggs and one fun Sunday

We had a wonderful Easter... woke up late, did the easter basket thing
(ps, how sad is it that I don't even put candy in em anymore?? My neighbors
all brought candy over and my mama gives a whole basket filled with candy too!)
This year, I stuck with essentials, bathing suits and flip flops :D

Here are our finger print/painted eggs :D
We headed off to church for a great sermon from
Numbers 17
comparing Aaron's staff to the death and resurrection of Jesus.
The Israelites had 12 staffs (one from each ancestral tribe) and wrote their names
on them and placed them in the Tent of Meeting just as the Lord had told them.
"The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout..."
(kinda funny that an object made from cut wood
would somehow give way to life once again,
just think of a walking cane)
The next day, when they went to check,
Aaron's staff had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.
Not just a sign, but an overly obvious sign- I love how God works!
Our Pastor compared it to Jesus, dying on the cross (the dead wood of the staff), and being raised to life, 3 days later (like the staff coming back to life). Easter!

I don't think I'd ever heard that story before about the staff! Pretty darn cool.
So after church, we headed over to my Aunt and Uncles to hang out by the pool,
do an Easter egg hunt, and sit fireside at night. A good day indeed!

Here is a lil' video from the morning scavenger hunt for the Easter baskets :D

And here's a lil' Easter throwback ;)
How was your holiday?

Ours was good, busy, but good.

I love the fingerprint painted eggs, what a cute idea! The scavenger hunt looked like fun too. Your girls are adorable and looking at that last pic I can see where they get it :)

sounds like a very sweet day!

p.s. you should totally try making a basket. i know there is an art to real basket making, but just making quirky quick little ones with the kids is no sweat. i am a little addicted now, just have to seek out a good source for more supplies now--maybe even natural materials picked from the backyard!

You are such a little cutie! Love the eggs. And I love the option of not even adding candy, I'm doing that next year! This year we were at my great aunt and uncle's and they SHOWERED Mycie with sweets. Ah well.

Too cute! I love the eggs too. We have a egg hunt for the kiddos on a local mountain without candy. Easter isn't a super candy holiday back home so I was a little shocked to discover the whole easter basket thing in an old video of C and his sister's easter circa 1983. Like that much candy and stuff every easter! I love the easter dresses though. Now that's a tradition I can't get behind.

I'm all about putting things your kids will actually use in their baskets! That photo if you is too cute!
