Escape...

This is my school.
It is old.
It is gorgeous!
It has a lovely, peaceful, quiet area where no one else seems to wander but me!

I like to escape
there on my breaks during 8 hour long nursing lectures!
The hillside is covered mostly with these green plants,
while branches from old pepper trees dangle down over the sidewalk and
sway with the breeze. (though on timer I didn't capture their essence!)

Welcome to my little sanctuary!

I like to come here to bask in the sun after lunch.
In preparation for being cryogenically frozen
in the next portion of lecture!
Which penguin has control over the thermostat anyway? :)

I also come here just to climb a bunch of stairs allllll
the way down
 and allll the way up
to get my heart pumping after sitting all day in class!

And last, but not least (by any means)
I'd like to introduce you to my new favorite article of clothing...
a score of sorts!
This Jacket was $12 at Forever 21.
Spring-fashion... you couldn't have come at a better time,
thanks for the discounted coat!
FrIdAy tomorrow.... whatchya doing this weekend?

Contrology

Joseph Pilates: the founder of Pilates.
This is just a brief overview of his life,
though a simple google search can fill in more details if you wish!

Joseph and Clara

Born in 1880, he was a sickly child and dedicated his life to improving his physical strength.
Later, during World War l, British authorities interned him with other German citizens in a camp.
During this (involuntary) time he developed his own
concept of an integrated comprehensive system of physical
exercise that he called "Contrology."
Years later (1925) he emigrated to the US
and met his future wife Clara, a nurse :)
The couple later founded a studio in New York
 where they trained others.
His method focused on the use of the mind to control muscles.

Joseph Pilates at age 57

Pilates focuses on the strengthening of the core (abdomen and back)
for good posture, physical health and a longer leaner look!
I've been dabbling in pilates off and on for about 10 years
and used it after the birth of both of my girls. I love
the way it makes me feel (and look)!!!

He used a machine called the "reformer" but
started out rehabilitating people in hospital beds
with the use of bands for resistance.

Joseph Pilates at age 82!!! What a STUD!

Rolling like a ball

I just got back to the gym for pilates after about a month break!
 It felt wonderful.
During these busy semesters,
I've been walking, which also kicks butt!
Just cruising 2 miles 5 days a week can kick 10 pounds to the curb fairly quickly.

You keeping your heart healthy?
If not, why not start now?
Whatchya waiting for?
Happy Health to you!!!!

It's Gettin' Closer

Though I do LOVE
 wearing my boots
(with nearly every outfit right now-
sheesh, I never realized just how versatile they are!)
 I am awaiting the
 nautical summeriness
 that is to come!
Here are some shots to rouse your summer senses!

I consider myself a happy spring person!
Not too hot
Not too cold...
just right (and sunny)
Santa Barbara, CA would be ideal :)
How about you?
 What's your favorite season?

The Happiest Place on Earth

This was our last pit stop on my short vacation between semesters at school.
My friends Dad was super sweet to get us in for
FREE!!!
GRATIS!!!
自由!!!
Livre!!!
Vrij!!!
 cause he works there!
Here are some classic Disneyland shots:
The Sword in the Stone

Elsa's favorite: Autopia

Olivia's free ride on Dadda's shoulders.
I'm LOVING my hubby's beard!!!

Time for a rest on: It's a small world.
Not to be a bummer here... but
I felt as if I could have made
each piece that they used for a backdrop here.
I mean.. cutting shapes like flowers outta
cardboard and painting them isn't hard right?
Disneyland could put a few bucks into that ride for sure!
But... it is a classic too

The Castle

Our last ride of the night: Teacups
I was slightly obsessed with their cuteness-
I told my hubby I wanted one at home.
Maybe we could make a dog bed out of it?
or fill it with water to make a spa out of it?
Or just an outdoor lounge? hahahah
They are adorable!

Anything super happy happening this weekend in your neck of the woods?
Hope you're having fun!
We're about to leave for a hike
in our local mountains!!!

These are a Few of My Favorite Things....

Today, I loved my outfit!
I woke up super early, and had to wear my nursing uniform
for my first day of clinicals...
(hence the hair tied back and "off the collar")
came home for lunch
and got into my favorites to head off for second half of my day in class.

#1 Favorite: my perfume, "Daisy" by Marc Jacobs

LOVE this scent :)

I pulled this sweater out of my closet
and low and behold
what should appear?
Eight tiny (no not reindeer) MOTH holes.
Know what?
I decided I'd pair it with some holy jeans and pretend
that I meant to go for the holy sweater grunge look!
Donned my red lipstick and
no one coulda guessed!

# 2 Favorite: Leopard ballerina flats from Target! My very favs!

#3 Favorite: This gold dipped Aspen leaf!

I also have a Birch, Ginko, and Oak leaf.
LOVE these necklaces!
I found them at a craft fair... but they have a website- YAY

#4 Favorite: These jeans that are slowly giving way...
I got them YEARS ago at Abercrombie
and little by little,
the delicate threads grow weary
as I wear them with love!

Here are the sad little knees :(
I kinda want to preserve them,
but they are the perfect length and style for flats!
I'll have to recycle them when they
decide to give out.
Craft them into a new life somehow!

Happy Early Friday...
I'll be in school all day tomorrow!
Catch up with ya soon :)

Shmeppiline and the Great Search for the perfect Gown!

Just as a little disclaimer,
this is not!!! the dress she ended up with
(though it does hug her hips so lovingly!)
Duh... I couldn't show her dress before the big day!

I've never heard of bringing your own
almond champagne to a dress fitting...
but these are my friends indeed.
We were going big at 11am
(honestly... no one was outta control) promise!

Cheers

We both showed up in our boots!
Funny, 'cause J-girl wears heels for every occasion.
I, on the other hand
cannot
escape
my
boots right now!!!
Can't get enough of em'

This was my favorite of the day... not very wearable after the wedding though
so we might keep on keepin' on

Amor

It is so bright and sunny out today...think it's going to be around 80 degrees!!!!
A perfect day to play in the sun.
My hubby got me an awesome bunch of flowers
and we're joining some friends for dinner tonight
to let the kidlets all romp around while we enjoy an evening without
 Valentine reservation restaurant madness!!!

While searching for a cute Valentine's
image I came across this blog.
Very cute paintings.. she's even got one of Frida!

It sure reminds me a lot of Inside a Black Apple

If you're brave enough to go out and fight the crowds, where are you going?

How to Play (for less)

I have one week off between semesters (this last one was completely nutty)... I was pretty much absent from my house for 6 weeks because the days I wasn't in class or clinicals, I was off studying! :( I needed some catch up time with my girls without breaking the piggy bank!!! Here's what we came up with...

Bowling- Elsa kicked butt!!! (Monday's and Tuesday's, it's only $1.50/game!)

Lounging with the dogs! Banana is one happy camper here!!! Before we had Olivia, our two dogs, Molly and Banana, were Elsa's buddies :) She would read them books, dress them up and cuddle with them (and still does). Sooo cute!!!

Picnic in the park :)

Going for a walk with the wagon....up a large hill..... and then.....

climbing in and screaming as we raced to the bottom!!! (Lots of fun!!!)

I wish you could smell the yummy breath coming from Wesley's pink, soft nostrils! Like sweet hay... you'd have to smell it to know it!

Visiting my Mama's horses and feeding them treats! Harley looks a little peeved here, but he's a sucker for kisses!

And who doesn't like a quesadilla after all that fun??? My little sister made these plates at the wee age of 15! Aren't they cute?!! Thanks Steph!!! xoxo

The colors are much more vibrant "in real life" and it leaves me wondering... do you have any issues with putting pictures online and color changing??? I'm sure the web shots are just more compressed, but I'm quite disappointed with this issue!!!! Any suggestions?

Happy Thursday- hope you're finding ways to squeek in some fun!!!!
We're heading to a ceramic shop today to paint, and Disneyland tomorrow (my friend's Dad is getting us in for FREE!!!! And my hubby will finally be able to join in to some of this fun!)

Pink Meets Olive Grove

This is a dainty pink thrift find from about 6 years ago. I tend to think it's a little overboard, all pink with white lacey borders... but now that I pulled it out again, I think I'm ready. Pink meets public :)

Do you have a favorite thrifted item? A needle in a haystack? I'd love to see it :)
Happy Tuesday!!!
