Coffee N Books

Two things that I've had too much of lately! I really am enjoying learning about all of it, but it's such a laborious process (during an intercession semester)! It's pediatrics and obstetrics for this round and I'm totally getting my baby holding fix!
Newborn nursery next week, then labor and delivery! Though, there aren't that many newborns in the nursery anymore these days since we are really pushing for baby roomin' in with Mom.
Happy for MLK day, a freebie to get more studying in!!!

"I'm Guilty... Guilty as Charged...."

Watching the sunrise on my way to school and sunset on the way home every day brings me a strange deep happiness. I usually end up praying and thanking God for the amazing artistry and consistency yet diversity of it!!! It blows me away... everyday!!!

The thing I'm "guilty" of is snapping shots while I'm driving. So sue me! HA!!! If you happen to be on the freeway in Southern California out in my neck of the woods between the wee to evening hours just keep an eye out!!! I really am a good chick driver- promise ;)

The link is to a song from the movie Walk Hard, a spoof on Walk the Line about Johnny Cash. The songs are genius and actually John C. Riley has a great voice!!!

How could you not want to capture this splendor???

Not bad for driving, eh?

The specs from my dirty windshield do bug me a little, but what can you do? (pull over and take shots outside?) hhahahaha

And here's my sweet Daisy (my little motorbike). My friend Courtney finally rode on back- she shrieked for the first half of the ride which made me laugh hysterically!!!!

Happy Wednesday... hope you're finding the small things in life to make you happy in a big way!!!

Long Term Livin'

Well, I must say that I hope to never live in a long term care facility... but if I had to, these folks sure know the place to go! My friend and I did some clinical work here for nursing school and she wanted to go back with her Korean church and have the kids put on a little Christmas program. The residents there loved the cheerful company!

She asked me to come along and play some songs on my guitar... they were the perfect audience :)

We sang a song all together in the end :)

Here are my little bitty's in our churches Christmas play. A shepard (on the right) and a sheep!

"Rock Me Mama....

Old Crow Medicine Show

...Like a Wagon Wheel"

Heading down south to the land of the pines.
I’m thumbing my way in the North Caroline.
Staring up the road, pray to God I see headlights.
Oh, I made it down the coast in seventeen hours,
Picking me a bouquet of dogwood flowers
And I’m hopin’ for Raleigh,
So I can see my baby tonight.

So rock me mama like a wagon wheel,
Rock me mama any way you feel.
Hey mama rock me.
Rock me mama like the wind and the rain,
Rock me mama like a south bound train.
Hey mama rock me.

Running from the cold up in New England.
I was born to be a fiddler in an old time string band.
My baby plays a guitar, I pick a banjo now.
Oh north country winters keep getting me,
Now I lost my money playing poker so I had to up and leave.
But I ain't turning back to living that old life no more.

Walkin' to the south out of Roanoke,
I caught a trucker out of Philly had a nice long toke.
But he’s heading west FROM the Cumberland gap,
Johnson City, Tennessee.
Now I gotta get a move on fit for the sun,
I hear my baby calling my name and I know that she’s the only one.
And If I die in Raleigh at least I will die free

I seriously LOVE this song right now... after all, there are two banjos, a stand up base, fiddle, acoustic guitar and some stellar harmonies!!! What else is there to love? Here's link so you can here the song. I had posted the video but it was so retarded that I had to remove the link (though the music is wonderful!) The band is Old Crow Medicine Show! Enjoy!!!

A Camping We Will Go...

I would take any one of these awesome trailers. My Mama grew up with a big camping group (my grandparents and their friends). They'd go out to their spot, line up all the trailers in a half circle and camp away. They brought motorcycles and bicycles and the kids just played all day! I'm ready!!!

How cool is this little submarine looking trailer??!!!
Our friend actually brought his little 1940 tear drop trailer along when we tent camped. It has everything you'd need, a stove, sink, cupboards inside and really is only designed for two (huh hmm- short) people. There's no way a 6' tall fella or gal would fit unless they curled up all night! We called it his "magic trailer." My girls thought it was the coolest little trailer ever!

Talk about traveling in style!!!
