Once

My word!!! The songs from this movie are SO stuck in my head... Nearly every time I walk by my guitar in the living room, I pick it up and start playing "Falling Slowly" I just watched this movie last weekend and loved it. If you get a chance, watch it :) Have a listen, maybe finish up those dishes and leave these playing! They are great songs!

"Neck Cozy"

Here's the finished product :) I got a chance to wear my "neck cozy" in Seattle this past week and actually received a couple of compliments on it!!! The book and pattern can be found under my September post!

Winter is here, it's cold outside,
but I'm wrapped up, cozy with you
While the world spins and time marches on
There is no one but me and you!

Stay cozy!!!

Gobble, Gobble!!!

Happy Turkey to you today! Hope you are all either starting to eat or are going to soon! I'm here in rainy Washington state right now and it just feels so much more like fall (than warm sunny So. Cal). Time for dinner, turkey, wine... and sweet slumber! La dolce vita!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

"Eee Chi Wa Wa"

When I was little, I used to get big bags full of clothes from a nice girl named Leah, who had out grown them. It was like Christmas in the middle of the year!!! My first daughter got a TON of clothes passed down to her from a friend who is a year older... and now my little one is getting her big sister's clothes. I climbed up into the attic this morning to bring down 3 big boxes of clothes (where are they going to fit in her dresser???)

One of the items being passed down is this pink sweatshirt that I stitched an "EeeChiWaWa" on. The pattern is from Sublime Stitching, you can find it here!

Here's to enjoying life's little joys!

Cheers!

Winter Weather!

I woke up the other morning to quite a chilly house. The heater kicked on and I told my hubby, "It feels like Christmas!!!" I'm looking forward to stringing lights up and sitting around our faux fireplace (Santa, that's what I really want... a working fireplace!), drinking some hot cocoa, and snuggling up!

The song "Winter Weather" by Squirrel Nut Zippers danced around in my head for about half of the day! Check out the video I found on you tube of that song- hehe, a coupla moose in the snow. How appropriate!

One other snowy and wonderful thing I wanted to share is J. Crew's new catalog. It just came in the mail the other day and the outfits are playful, full of layer-ey goodness, and the model is adorable! Here's the cover...

Anyone out there have a real winter, with snow? In Southern California, we try to wear scarves, but even that gets a little too warm by noon :(  Guess I'll have to head to the mountains!!!
Happy snuggling to you!
xoxo

Wake up, let's eat!!!!

Hello Crepes!!!!

My own little "KitchenAid"

Happy Saturday Morning! If you're getting tired of that old box of cereal... or maybe a little burnt out on eggs, give crepes a try! They're light, sweet and perfectly paired with berries!
Crepes:

2 eggs, beat well
1 cup of milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
---------mix in---------
1 cup flour
2 tablespoons melted butter
a small dash of vanilla extract
-----toppings-----
powdered sugar
berries
syrup

I use a small non stick pan (about 5") and spray it with Pam cooking spray. Use a ladle to scoop up the batter and drop in the pan, swirl the batter around the bottom of the pan to coat it (these are much thinner than pancakes).
This recipe makes about 15 crepes! I like to keep them in a tortilla warmer as I'm making them!!!

Bon Appetit!!!
Nicky

Happy Halloween!!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday- Halloween is one of my favorites! Who doesn't like dressing up and being somebody or something else for a night??? hehe

I had a "gourdtastic" time painting these little guyss! My mom can't get enough of these, so I joined her on a few of her journey's to Welburn Gourd Farm, a piece of land in Fallbrook that is scattered with super old oak trees and rows and rows of gourds on vines of all shapes and sizes! They harvest them and place them in long netted troughs that sit above the ground... waiting to be seen so they can hitch a ride home and be your next art project! :)

This pumpkin by my feet was grown in our backyard! Self planted from last years pumpkin extravaganza!
Trick or Treating, I'm the cowgirl, "Jeraldine" and my hubby is Huell Howser. My friend Anne is Laura Ingals and her man is Wolverine :)
Our kidlets! Mine are the two little pirates with the black hats :)
